T-Camp 2018 Info

Howdy !

Congratulations on your acceptance into Texas A&M! We are very excited you have chosen to attend  T-Camp 2018 with Aggie Transition Camps this August! The next step as an Aggie is to experience your first official Texas A&M tradition: T-Camp! This experience will take place in two different sessions: Session 1: August 6th-8th and Session 2: August 10th-12th. This should cover everything you will need to know about T-Camp.

Check-in/Parking:

·Check-in is from 8:00am to 9:30am on August 6th and August 10th. You must check-in before 9:30am. We will meet in Lot 40 C on the Texas A&M campus. Lot 40 is located off of George Bush Dr. between Bizzell St. and Coke St. A map of TAMU Parking can be found here

If you do not plan to purchase an annual parking permit, you may purchase a temporary parking permit for the 3 days you will be attending camp for $5.00. These permits must be purchased prior to check-in. These permits must be printed and displayed in the dashboard of your vehicle. More information on parking and how to purchase a temporary parking permit for the time you will be at camp will be provided at a later date. Additionally, if you do not wish to park and leave your car in Lot 40 C, you may choose to have someone drop you off in Lot 40 for check-in.

What to Pack:

Bring your luggage with you when you check-in. All luggage will be loaded onto baggage trucks to be transported to Trinity Pines, where you will be reunited with your luggage once we arrive at the campgrounds. Although linens are provided for the beds, pillows are not. Please bring your own pillow. Towels also are not provided, so plan to bring your own for showering. If your towels, pillows, and blanket (if you choose to bring one) do not fit into a bag, please bring them in a large plastic trash bag. Luggage tags will be provided for your suitcases, duffle bags, and trash bags so that your luggage does not get confused with anyone else’s. DO NOT bring any weapons, illegal drugs, or alcohol to camp. If you are seen with them at camp, you may be asked to leave camp. No one wants this to happen, so please leave these items at home so you can enjoy your 3 days at Howdy Camp! Now here’s the fun part! We will be having athemed mixer one of night of camp and our other mixer will be a swim party.  Our mixers will be an awesome time for you to dress up, have fun, and get the chance to hang out with your fellow campers, counselors, and teamers. There will also be a lot of fun dancing! You don’t have to go out and buy something fancy to wear, but be sure to bring something to dress up with, because that just makes it that much more fun! Please make sure all costumes are appropriate. We ask that all campers respect the rules of Trinity Pines by wearing approrpriate siwmsuits. We ask that females wear a one piece swim suit or clothes over your two piece. We ask that males wear swim trunks rather than a speedo. 

What to Expect After Check-In and At Camp:

After the check-in process, we will travel to Trinity Pines Conference Center in Trinity, TX by bus. All campers will be lodging by gender in dorm-style cabins with heating and cooling, bunk beds, and fully equipped with restrooms and showers. Students are split into "camps" that have a designated name and color. In your respective camp (name and color), you will furthermore be divided into Discussion Groups (DGs) and spend time getting to know each other and developing bonds that will last you throughout your college career. Counselors have prepared skits to help teach you about the traditions and opportunities at A&M. In addition, our very own group of “yell leaders,” known as Team, will teach the yells and hold yell practice every night. We will also have guest speakers and programs (TAMU Libraries, Career Center, Study Abroad, etc.) come and speak to us about the wonderful services available to Texas A&M students. There will also be small group interactions, mixers and dance parties, and recreation of Silver Taps, Muster, and Bonfire. As mentioned earlier, within each camp, you will be divided into Discussion Groups, which generally consist of 5-7 campers and 2 counselors. These DGs are where the lasting friendships are made. In addition to meeting new friends, you will have the opportunity to learn about Aggie life through your counselors and ask them any questions that you may have. We will load the buses at Trinity Pines on Day 3 of camp to travel back to College Station at 4:00pm, arriving back in College Station around 6:30pm. Once we arrive back in College Station, you will be able to retrieve your luggage. If you are being dropped off on Day 1 of camp, please make arrangements for someone to pick you up once we arrive back in College Station. Camps will be attending Rosa’s Café upon arrival back in College Station. This is not mandatory by any means but if you would like to come hang out and eat some awesome food with counselors and other campers you are more than welcome to!
